Temporary Groundwater Implants

Micro Well ImageThis is ESN’s most commonly used and least expensive method of groundwater collection. This method is most often the fastest way to collect groundwater.

After placing either of these wells, the probe rig is then free to move to the next sample location, a big time-saving advantage! Water levels can then be measured and the sample is recovered using a peristaltic pump, or a bailer, and disposable tubing.

If water recoveries are slow, the tubing can be left in place and sampled later in the day, or another day if need be. In this situation, 10-20 mesh silica sand is packed around the perforations and a bentonite seal is added to the surface. The tubing is simply pulled from the ground when sampling is completed and the abandoned holes are plugged with bentonite.
